Question:

What’s better…a whiteboard or a chalkboard?

Solution:

This can really depend on personal preferences, but here are some things to consider:

  • Whiteboards are typically less messy (i.e. no chalk dust, no broken pieces of chalk on your ground for kids to step on)
  • Whiteboards are usually easier for kids to write on

So whiteboard 2, chalkboard 0?

Not necessarily…a chalkboard might be more of a novelty because kids are used to seeing white board instead of chalkboards. Using a chalkboard might capture their attention and keep them engaged (we’ll all need help with that this fall!). Or if you have room for both, switch them up every other day or week to keep things fresh.

This is part of a Q&A series on setting-up your home, schedule, and life for virtual/distance learning in the fall. I’ve got three kids (2 year-old, Kindergartner, and 2nd grader), so I feel your pain and am just as stressed out as you are. But I’m hoping with a little planning and pre-work, I can make this fall schooling experiment WAY better than what my home experienced in the spring 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Would love to help you reduce even a bit a stress too!
